Religious or moral beliefs

Some providers may choose not to perform certain services based on their religious or moral beliefs.

Language services

The providers in our network have to:

  • Report and update language services for each location.
  • Confirm the languages reported are accurate. 
  • Make sure all translators meet medical language requirements.

What to do if you need more information

Call our Customer Service team at 866-781-5094 (TTY: 866-773-9634) if you need to: 

  • Know how we tell members about changes to our provider directory.
  • Get help in other languages or formats for things like:          

    • Discussing health care.
    • Talking to us.
    • Getting materials in another language.

    These services are free. 

  • Understand our provider directory. We can send you printed copies of our directory for free. You just need to ask for it. We can also give you information about any of our network doctors, including: 
    • Medical school attended.
    • Professional qualifications.
    • Race and ethnicity.
    • Language services available.

Does each member of my family need to have the same primary care provider?

Family members who are Healthy Blue members can choose the same primary care provider (PCP). Families can also choose different PCPs based on each family member’s needs. Some providers may have age requirements for their patients. 

What if my PCP leaves the network?

We will mail you a letter if your PCP or specialist is leaving our network. You will receive this letter at least 30 days before the provider leaves if we know ahead of time. If we learn the provider is leaving after the fact, we will send the letter as soon as possible. We will make a good faith effort to send the letter within 15 days after we learn a provider is leaving. You will get the letter in 30 days if we are not able to send the letter within 15 days.

Getting to Your Appointment

South Carolina Healthy Connections works with ModivCare to provide free transportation to doctors appointments, pharmacy visits and other medical appointments. 

This service is available through ModivCare and is available to all Healthy Blue and Healthy Connections members.
