Help for New Moms: Get a Free Electric Breast Pump With Healthy Blue

Did you know that breastfeeding is good for your baby and good for you?

Breast milk meets the nutritional needs of your growing baby. Plus, it’s the best way to feed your baby for the first six months.

Here’s more about why breastfeeding is so amazing:

  • Provides essential nutrients and antibodies for your baby's immune system.
  • Reduces your baby's risk of sudden infant death syndrome, ear infections and respiratory illnesses.
  • Promotes a strong loving bond between you and your baby.
  • May help you lose weight after pregnancy.

Another help to a breastfeeding mom is a breast pump. A pump can be a useful tool for a new mom to store milk for future use or even emergencies. This way, a baby can be fed if the mom has to be away or needs rest. It also gives other family members a chance to help.

Great news! As a Healthy Blue member, a qualified new mom can get a free electric breast pump.

Here are the steps for getting a no-cost electric breast pump from Healthy Blue:

Step 1: 
Make sure you are a member of Healthy Blue Medicaid during your pregnancy. To qualify for the breast pump, you should be between 28 weeks pregnant and 12 months after delivery. You can only redeem one electric breast pump per pregnancy per year.

Step 2:
You’ll need a breast pump prescription from your OB-GYN. 

Step 3:
Log into My Health Toolkit®. This can be through our website or the app on your phone or tablet. Look for the “My Plan & Benefits” drop-down. You will see “Extra Benefits Hub.”

Step 4:
Click on the “Extra Benefits Hub.” 

Step 5: 
Click the “Request” button next to the breast pump benefit. Then choose the steps. Wait for the reward tile to show at the top of the page so you can finish your order. Note: If you do not have the option to request the electric breast pump, please click the “Learn More” button and follow those steps. 

Step 6: 
Click “Redeem.” Put in your own info and shipping address (no PO boxes). Upload your prescription from your OBGYN. If you cannot upload your prescription, call Healthy Blue Customer Service at 866-781-5094 (TTY: 866-773-9634) for help. Also, make sure you have the correct email address so you can get the tracking information.

Step 7:
Click next and check your info. If all looks right, click submit. Note: Your electric breast pump may take 5 to 7 business days to be delivered.

Unable to request the electric breast pump online? Call Healthy Blue Customer Service at 866-781-5094 (TTY: 866-773-9634). They will connect you with someone who can help. 

NOTE: It may take 4 – 6 weeks for claims processing and for records to show you were an active Healthy Blue member during your pregnancy.
